CABINET COOLERS

WHAT IS THE AIR CONSUMPTION OF THE CONTROL COOLERS?

The last two digits of the model number is the air consumption of the compressed air at 100 psi.

WHICH OF THE THREE MODELS, ALUMINUM, STAINLESS, OR NEMA 4X, IS THE MOST POPULAR?

For most applications, the stainless is the most popular. It is corrosion proof, long lasting, and the stainless provides the best cold temperature drop.

WHICH MODEL DO I NEED?

We have several charts to exactly determine your need, but generally, the most popular model 70025, will cool a cabinet 6’ high by 6’ wide by 2’ deep. Other models are available, but there is little difference in price, so it is hard to go wrong with the 70325 thermostatic system.

IS CONDENSATION A PROBLEM?

No, not if you seal the cabinet and keep the cabinet door closed. This prohibits the humidity from the surrounding air getting inside the cabinet and causing condensation to form.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO MOUNT THE CONTROL COOLER AND THERMOSTAT?

The Cooler can be mounted any place and at any angle and still perform the same. At the top of the cabinet is best, because the cold air from the Control Cooler will fall to the bottom and help cool the entire cabinet. A thermostat at the top of the cabinet is best as that is the hottest spot due to the rising hot air.

VORTEX TUBES

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The vortex tube sets up two streams of air at different speeds. As the two streams pass each other there is an air to air heat exchange with the slower speed stream of air giving up its heat to the fast moving stream. So you have one colder stream and one hotter stream of air than the ambient air you started with. You are welcome to call 800 307 7475 if you have particular questions on your application.

WHERE CAN I USE THE VORTEX TUBE?

Anywhere you need very cold or very hot air. Use it to cool hot parts, molds, electronics, machining operations, personnel, all without bulky freon units. Use it to heat shrink wraps, glues, or for drying parts.

IS THERE ANYTHING TO WEAR OUT OR REPLACE?

No, They may need cleaning from contaminated air, but because there are no moving parts, it does not wear out.

AIR GUNS

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Cold Air Gun is an applied use of the vortex tube. The stainless steel Cold Gun is an industrial ready- to- use tool. It has a magnetic base to attach to machines, a 12” Flex-Line to direct the cold air from the gun to your application, a muffler to reduce noise level, and various stationary generators to change the cold air flows for your particular use. Being made of stainless steel insures long lasting durability from cutting oils or hazardous chemicals.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES IN THE VARIOUS MODELS?

They all produce cold air, but some are adjustable, and some are bigger or smaller for hard to get to places or used where less cold air is needed. The most versatile model is the 60040. It handles all the various sized generators for different volumes of cold air and does not need adjusting.

AIR NOZZLES

WHAT IS THE CFM OF THE NOZZLES?

Please check the comparison chart for consumption at 40 psi and 80 psi.

HOW IS THE AIRFLOW INCREASED?

The high speed compressed air exits the nozzle from the hex and creates a low pressure area as the compressed air flows down the conical tip. This low pressure area draws into the surrounding air to provide more volume of air in the entrained flow.

WEDGES

WHAT IS THE FLOW PATTERN?

The flat pattern is seen in the Technical data section of the Wedges.

DOES THE FLOW PATTERN CHANGE?

Regardless of the compressed air pressure, the flow pattern remains the same.

HIGH THRUST JETS

IS IT ADJUSTABLE?

Yes, the flow is easily increased or decreased by turning the barrel counter clock wise to increase the flow and clockwise to decrease the flow.

DOES THE FLOW INCREASE THE AMPLIFICATION?

No, the amplifications ratio stays the same at 4 times the compressed air usage.

BLOW GUNS

WHICH NOZZLE SHOULD I USE WITH THE BLOW GUN?

Each nozzle has its own characteristics of flow pattern and oz of thrust as shown on the Nozzle Compare Tab. If you have questions on the right nozzle and whether it should be adjustable or fixed, call us at 1-800-307-7475.

ARE THE BLOW GUNS OSHA COMPLIANT?

There are three OSHA measures that the Guns must pass. They all meet the skin impingement pressure and dead end pressure. They all meet the noise level measure, and with few exceptions, they all meet 30 psi measure. Call us for additional details.

STA-PUT HOSES

WHAT NOZZLE FITS ON EACH STA-PUT?

The air inlet size of the Sta-Put hose is 1/4″ NPTM. This fits into your compressed air source. The outlet size is determined by the nozzle size. There are 1/4″ or 3/4″ NPTM or 1/8″, 1/4″ and 1/8″ NPTF fittings available to connect to various nozzles.

WHY IS THE COPPER ROD LOOSE ON ONE END?

The copper rod is soldered into the inlet end and loose at the nozzle end to allow the Sta-Put to bend. If both ends were soldered, one end would break when the Sta-Put was bent.

AIR AMPLIFIERS

WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE AIR AMPLIFIERS?

Please see the Technical Tab under Air Amplifiers to compare the sizes of the 5 different units.

WHY IS THE AIR AMPLIFICATION DIFFERENT FOR THE VARIOUS UNITS?

The throat diameter limits the amount of air flow, so the larger the throat diameter the greater the flow.

AIR WIPES

WHICH SIDE HAS THE CLEANING AIR FLOW?

The air flow from the contoured side to the flat side.

WHY USE THE GATE, INSTEAD OF A COMPRESSED AIR PIPE WITH HOLES DRILLED IN IT?

The compressed air is amplified 25 times using the surrounding flow to provide you with the high volume of air. This provides enough air flow to do your cleaning and drying while paying for a fraction of using straight compressed air to do your application effectively.

AIR KNIVES

HOW DO I MOUNT THE AIR KNIFE?

A rigid air pipe is the best way to mount the Air Knife. There is a very large air flow created and the rigid air pipe will hold the Air Knife as well as allow you to direct the air flow in the direction needed for your application.

WHEN SHOULD I SUPPLY COMPRESSED AIR TO BOTH ENDS?

As a general rule, a 24″ Air Knife and longer should be piped with compressed air coming in from both sides. This eliminates strong or weak spots in the overall length of the Air Knife.

POWER SUPPLY

WHAT VOLTAGE IS AVAILABLE?

The Power Supplies are all available in 110 Volts or 220 Volt.

DO I LOSE POWER BY ADDING 2 OR 4 APPLIANCES TO ONE POWER SUPPLY?

No, you get the maximum ionization with either the 2 hook-up or 4 hook-up Power Supply
Ionizing Bar

WHAT IS THE EFFECTIVE LENGTH OF THE IONIZING BAR?

The AiRTX Ionizing Bar will give off both positive and negative ions up to 6″ from the Bar. This means that if you have a non standard area to neutralize and it is 27″ wide, a 24″ standard Ionizing Bar would fit the application.

HOW DO I MOUNT THE IONIZING BAR?

There are plastic ties supplied with the Bar. They can be used to suspend the Bar from a part of the machine or conveyor in your application. Also the U-shaped flange on the Bar can be drilled to provide mounting holes at various places. Just be careful not to drill into the plastic housing.

IONIZING AIR KNIFE

HOW DO YOU MOUNT THE IONIZING AIR KNIFE?

If you use a hard pipe to supply the compressed air to the Bar, the pipe will support the Air Knife and provide direction of the air to carry the ions to the static problem.

HOW MUCH AIR PRESSURE IS NEEDED?

20 to 30 psi is all that is needed to carry the positive and negative ions to the static location. You can use more pressure as if it is necessary to blow away debris once the static bond is neutralized.

IONIZING AIR GUN

WHAT AIR PRESSURE IS NEEDED FOR THE AIR GUN?

Like the Air Knife, as little as pressure possible to satisfy your application, should be used. The more air you use creates more turbulence and reduces the effectiveness of the ionization.

HOW MUCH CFM DOES THE AIR GUN CONSUME?

Depending on the air pressure the Gun will consume 6 CFM @30 psi, up to 12 CFM @ 80 psi.

SINGLE POINT IONIZING NOZZLE

ARE THE SINGLE POINT IONIZERS SHOCKLESS?

The tip of the Ionizer is shielded by the delrin case around the tip, but if you stick a metal piece into the casing, you can get a spark from the ionizing tip. This could cause heat which would melt the delrin casing and cause failure.

IS THERE A MINIMUM LENGTH BETWEEN SINGLE POINTS WHEN THEY ARE MULTIPLE UNITS?

The minimum length between 2 units is 4″. Also, when you order, be sure to let us know the distance needed from the Power Supply to the first Single Point Ionizing Nozzle.

DRUM DEVIL AND DRUM DEVIL II

HOW DO I CLEAN THE DRUM DEVIL?

The Drum Devil and Drum Devil II are stainless steel three-piece units. Heavy sludge can remain in the unit and affect performance. A degreaser or solvent cleaner will remove the sludge and return the Drum Devil or Drum Devil II to like new performance.

HOW DO I SIT THE DRUM DEVIL OR DRUM DEVIL II TO ITS ORIGINAL PERFORMANCE AFTER DISASSEMBLY AND CLEANING?

The three piece unit consists of the outside muffler, the body with the float valve and the barrel that screws into the body. The barrel should be turned all the way into the body and then backed off until the etched lines align.

SMARTVAC

HOW FAR WILL THE SMARTVAC PULL DIRT AND DEBRIS?

The 10 feet suction hose length provides the best suction. Longer hoses can be used but with lower results.

CAN THE FILTER BAG BE CLEANED?

The filter bag is a 5 micron material and lint and dirt can clog the small openings. The bag can be washed but should not be put in a dryer to dry as this will shrink the bag.

SPEEDVAC

CAN I INCREASE THE VACUUM?

The trigger mechanism limits the amount of CFM that can flow through the Gun. Increasing the psi can increase the flow and thereby increase the vacuum strength.

HOPPERVAC

HOW DO I ADJUST THE FLOW?

The suction end is set the same as the model 15008 Adjustable Hurricane Air Amplifier. By moving the barrel of the unit 1/4″ past the mark on the body, you double the air flow of the unit.

CONVEYVAC

WHAT IS THE AIR AMPLIFICATION OF THE CONVEYVAC?

The compressed air from the jets inside the ConveyVac pull the air from the suction end through the ConveyVac at nine times the amount of compressed air consumed. This provides the large flow to move material effectively.
